Shelby started her riding career in the 5th grade in her hometown of Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. At just 15 years of age, she traveled to Temecula, CA on her own to be a full time working student for Hawley Bennett while completing her grade 10 online. At 16 years old, her incredible parents supported her dreams of riding at the upper levels (as always) and she embarked on a new journey of moving to Ocala, FL. Shelby began training full time with Kyle Carter to prepare for the North American Junior Young Rider Championships (NAJYRC) in which she placed 3rd and brought home a bronze medal for Canada being the only Canadian in the top 9.<\/p>\n

At 19 years of age and a high school graduate with high honors, her goals began getting more ambitious and r\u00e9sum\u00e9 more impressive. Shelby was the 2016 3* NAJYR Gold Medalist and the only competitor to finish on her dressage score at the three-star level, and named to Equestrian Canada’s No Boundaries list. In\u00a02017, Shelby was the top placed Canadian rider at the Bromont International Three-Day Event and was again named to the Canada’s No Boundaries list, which highlights riders with potential to represent Canada on the world stage at the 2019 Pan American Games. In 2019 and 2020 Shelby has been named to Equestrian Canada’s Eventing High Performance Squad. She intends to work as hard as possible to achieve her goals of being competitive at the 5* level one day and to bring home a medal for Canada at the Olympic Games.<\/p>\n

Her mission is to create a constructive and positive outlook on all situations no matter what the outcome may be. She strives to take her success humbly and intends to take the failures just as humbly viewing them as a way to learn. Shelby values a team situation whether it be for a competition or just how she treats the people around her. She would like to add that her future, as well as current dreams and aspirations, would not be possible without her team of supporters and sponsors.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
